Using Password Synchronisation

Using Password Synchronisation

First, the file transfer indicated must be imported to all the systems concerned. We use this transfer for systems from 4.7 to 7.0

The next step is to define a source system (for example the development system) from which users are to be synchronised. The systems for which passwords are to be synchronised must be defined on the source system.

As there have been severe changes in the password hashes for SAP 7.0, the source system should be version 6,40 or lower if systems <= 6.40 and >= 7.00 are to be mixed. Otherwise, systems <= 6.40 will be unable to read the passwords. Of course, it would also be possible to establish two different password synchronisation domains.

A functioning RFC link to each system (including your own) must be available. These RFC links should be configured so that you do not need a user in order to use them. As only one link is required for each system, a link in client 000 could be used.

Then enter the name of the RFC link in the table /CONSOLUT/PWDEST. The entry in the column "Never" determines whether or not the option "Passwords never change" can be used on this system (empty = no, X = yes). This switch only acts directly on the target system.

Log on under the name of the user whose passwords you want to synchronise.

The program is started as follows: /CONSOLUT/PW_START

You can tick the "Passwords never change" box. If this box is ticked, the user's passwords never expire (if this is allowed by the /CONSOLUT/PWDEST table on the target system)!
