Obsolete Syntax

ASSIGN TABLE FIELD (name).

Effect

This variant of the dynamic assignment of memory area in the ASSIGNstatement is only possible outside of classes and without explicit use of casting_specand range_spec. When the statement is executed, the name contained in the character-type name data object is searched for in thetablework areas declared using TABLES in the currentprogram group. The name in name must be specified in uppercase letters.
