Purpose

The initial transfer of the consumption data from BI to SAP Forecasting and Replenishment (SAP F&R)provides a flexible and efficient way to retrieve the consumption data from the OLAP (online analyticalprocessing) SAP BI system. By default, the initial transfer of the consumption data was retrieved froma SAP ERP system, PIPE (POS Inbound Processing Engine) or another OLTP (online transaction processingsystem) legacy system. The problem with those OLTPs is that the retention time of the data for the consumptiondata is very short, usually less than 1 month. Since typically more than two years of consumption datais needed in SAP F&R, data should be retrieved from BI. The consumption data stored in BI has usually a long period of retention.

Prerequisites

In order to use the initial transfer of consumption data from BI, you need to :

• have the consumption data already stored in a BI SAP system.

• have already defined the customizing of the Alternative provision of consumption
