  This parameter defines the size of the data buffer, in which the
  'home rows' of the data records to be inserted through the
  'cursor insert' (data records without the extra BLOB data stored
  for Informix) are written.

  The size of this buffer implicitly defines the number of
  data records transferred in a packet. This packet is a logical
  packet, which is split up if necessary by the network
  software.

  can have a negative influence on performance.
