Functionality

This BAdI example implementation is called during WT confirmation. It attempts to determine whether the stock moved is to be unpacked automatically. The following checks are executed:

  • Source and destination storage type have to be different to prevent unpacking of movements between the storage bins of one packing work center.
  • The destination storage type of the WT must have the storage type role Work Center or Work Center in Staging Areas Group.
  • The destination storage bin of the WT has to be assigned to a work center.
  • If the destination of the WT is a work center, a check is made for whether this work center is setup for cross-docking activities. This check is based on the external step of the work center. This external step has to be linked to the internal process step for cross-docking.

The HU moved by the WT is then subsequently read. Based on the hierarchy information of the HU, the BAdI example implementation returns the number of HU levels that are to be unpacked.

If the BAdI example implementation returns a number of HU levels that are to be unpacked that is greater than 0, the system later attempts to unpack the HU accordingly.

Relationships

Example

The current warehouse task moves stock through the warehouse that is in nested HUs. In particular, thestock is packed in small boxes, which are in turn packed in large boxes. These large boxes are packedon a pallet. Based on the hierarchy information of the HU, the system returns a level of "2" to unpack the large boxes from the pallet and unpack the small boxes from the large boxes.

Notes

Please note: The assumption of the BAdI example implementation is that the stock itself is always packed within the same level of the HU hierarchy.
