Functionality

Core Module of the Generic Interaction Layer (GenIL)

Offers a uniform function based API to access business object data: It translates and dispatches incoming requests to the GenIL components responsible and collects the results afterwards.

The Generic Interaction Layer defines a well defined and extensible environment where so called GenILComponents are plugged in. The GenIL components actually communicate with the underlying APIs availablefor the different business object types an application makes use of - e.g. business partner, product master or sales data.

Usually the Generic Interaction Layer API is called from the Business Object Layer (BOL) and not from the application coding directly.

The Generic Interaction Layer has been introduced with CRM 3.1 and is widely used in all CRM applications since version 5.1 .
